The Hottest Wind
Once again I play the griever,
As I button up my shirt,
And that man there in the mirror,
I know him from before.
And my legs they feel like butter,
As they carry me to you,
So much more then just another,
To be another you were doomed.
But the hottest wind came blowing,
And it turned you into ash,
As i played my part unknowing,
That it wasnt meant to last.
So I lay a rose down on the ground
Where no headstone bears your name.
While elsewhere a headstone beams of you
As the mourners share their pain.
But alone I stand,
Alone i stay,
Alone I must remain.
Alone again to face my world
In loneliness unshamed.
And the hottest wind came blowing,
And it turned my soul to dust,
But the dust stood fast not going,
There it settled in my chest.
And alone i stand,
Alone i stay
To face the world unarmed.
'Til the hottest wind surrounds again,
And again il play my part.
